Amazon River

The first European to discover the Amazon was the Spanish explorer Vicente Yafiez Pinzon, onetime captain aboard Christopher Columbus’s ship the Nina. Cruising the coast of Brazil in 1500, he sailed into at least one of the mouths of the Amazon and realized that he had found a very large river indeed. But real exploration…

Even if the dreamy scenario of an overwater bungalow and fishes right at your doorstep, which are the trademarks of Maldives holidays, are enticing to a lot of people, not all travelers will feel that staying at a luxurious resort in a private island is the right holiday for them. Some people do prefer to have cheap holidays as a matter of choice. Fortunately for budget travelers with an adventurous streak, there are a lot of beaches all over the world to choose from. Here are three recommended beaches found in Central and South America.

With a 16 mile stretch of white sand, Placencia Beach is one of the must go beaches in the country of Belize. Located at the Stan Creek District, it provides a spacious venue for beach goers to indulge in swimming, engaging in water activities, and working on that perfect tan. There are also other activities nearby in case one wants to take a break from beach activities. For example, half day kayak tours in the Monkey River are offered. Howler monkeys, crocodiles, and manatees are often spotted during these tours.

In Mexico, Cancun has always been a top choice among those who want to have a holiday in this country. However, there are other alternatives to the crowded Cancun. One such beach is found in the town of Tulum. This town has an amazing beach with white sand and clear waters but at more affordable prices. The average price for a night’s stay in a room in the beachside resorts is at the $50 to $70 price range. The restaurants offer meals at reasonable prices as well. Aside from the beach activities, another outdoor activity for visitors is to take a walk through the Mayan ruin which the town is also famous for.

Those who prefer to try out the beaches in Brazil may want to head off to Tinhare Island in Bahia. The island also goes by the name of Morro de Sao Paulo. There are four beaches found in the island that are simply named First Beach, Second Beach, Third Beach, and Fourth Beach. Each of the beaches have their own distinct atmosphere and the corresponding type of tourist. For example, surfers often flock to First Beach while party goers are often found populating Second Beach due to the luau and dance parties often held here. The quieter and more laid back beaches are the Third and Fourth Beach, which make them ideal to families and honeymooners.

As the beaches in the Maldives have their exclusive charm, so do the beaches found in Central and South America. The Latin American culture, coupled with the natural beauty of the beaches found in the coasts of this part of the world makes cheap holidays here very appealing.
